Douglas Melton defends and counsels California employers from all sectors of the economy with a special focus on professional service providers such as law firms, architecture/design firms and healthcare organizations, and on hospitality, recreation and entertainment employers.
Mr. Melton, an experienced trial lawyer, defends employers in litigation and administrative proceedings in state and federal courts, in private arbitration, and before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the National Labor Relations Board, and the California Department of Labor, among others. Mr. Melton’s defense practice includes individual litigation and arbitration as well as class action and representative litigation.
Mr. Melton’s counseling practice focuses on partnering with clients to manage employee dynamics and avoid harassment, discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour claims. Mr. Melton audits clients’ employment policies, procedures and employee handbooks, and counsels clients on day-to-day legal issues. Mr. Melton also performs workplace trainings and investigations.
